Making a quilt is not a quick endeavor. At least for me it isn’t. Back in 2016 I read a tutorial by Bonjour Quilts and left a comment about how much I loved the quilt. Then in 2020, in a newsletter by Bonjour Quilts (side note – if you don’t receive her newsletter, check it out. Kirsty writes a great newsletter and I very much enjoy reading it) I was reminded of the quilt. At that time, I started cutting pieces for the background. I believe this was at the beginning of the pandemic. Fast forward to 2021, I ...

I've had the Scrappy Lattice pattern from Bonjour Quilts in my pattern stash for a while and I also had a stack of 3.5" blue squares so I got to work!
This was such a fun project to work on. The pattern has a number of sizes and you could go crazy with the colours - Bonjour Quilts has a blog post on making this pattern in the colours of the rainbow and it looks fantastic. I may have to cut up more squares from my scrap bins and make more of these quilts!

read moreFor some reason, I always doubt myself when it comes to putting fabrics together to make quilts. I relied on pre-cuts for such a long time where you get a little bit of fabric from an entire collection, that I don't feel like I built up my skills for pulling fabrics.
This quilt pattern however, requires 19 fat quarters and one accent fabric. I had a fat quarter bundle of the Twenty-Three collection by Eric & Julie Comstock for Moda but knew I'd need to add a few fat quarters from my stash. I looked at one of the ...
read moreLike many people around the world, I've been working from home since March 2020. I set-up my home office in a corner of our dining room but with the exception of a table runner on top of my desk and a magnetic board up on the wall, I've basically been staring at a blank wall for months now.
The hubby did say he's planning on re-painting the dining room very soon so I can't go crazy and start hanging pictures of the grand-kids just yet (I received some really nice pictures during the holidays) but I ...

Besides the 3.25 yards of background fabric (which is Kona Ash in my version), this pattern doesn't require a whole lot - one yard of the chevron fabric (Kona White here) and 0.75 yard of the motif fabric (Kona Berry). I can picture it being pieced from a variety of different fabrics in the same colour family though - so you potentially could use fat quarters.

read moreI pinned the Diamonds in the Deep quilt pattern by Bonjour Quilts a few years ago but I somehow only bought the pattern recently. And then a few weeks ago I finally started cutting the fabric to make it. I hesitated on the colours to use for a while but ended-up settling on Kona White and Kona Coal both of which I had plenty of in my stash.
I wanted to do something a little bit different for the centre squares and used a fat quarter of some sparkly fabric.
For the backing, I used an old sheet my hubby ...
read moreOh my goodness – time is flying by. Nothing like a pandemic forcing all of us to stay home day after day to make a person busy, right? In March when all of this started I thought I would accomplish this huge to-do list due to being stuck at home. I created a list of blog posts to catch up on, pictured myself scrubbing the kitchen and bathrooms till they sparkled – it was going to be such a productive time. Ummm, what the heck? I have hardly posted here and it took me until yesterday to force myself to scrub one ...
